The moment has come, and she stood in front of heaven’s gate
Waiting for the time, to listen for her fate
God stood there with great silence
And stared at her for a while
“Describe yourself,” he finally said,
With not one drop of a smile.
“I served my country,” she spoke, with great pride in her heart,
“I fought my way through, all the way from the start.
I found a way to protect people who lived in my home country.
I never gave up, and it was hard, I’m sure you would agree.
With hardly ever nights of rest, and hardly ever good days
I stood head up high, and knew I had to stay.
I wished upon every star that I soon would return home. I carried sadness all around, yet still walked with none shown.
Though, I still fought with pride,
And knew this was where I should be.
Carrying great deals of pressure, I still loved the army.
And maybe I didn’t fight as well, but I didn’t fight with shame.
And might I say myself, not all gun carriers are the same.
I might have done something wrong, which is why I’m here right now,
But all I ask for is to let me finish my job and let me go back down.
I have my duty to finish, and I have to do it with pride.
And after I’m finished you can take me right back here and bring me to the other side.”
God carefully listened and then spoke with a great smile,
“My child, go back down,
and make your fighting worthwhile.”
